LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge landed on a pair of national rankings over the last week.

Cheapest Places – Comparewise

Comparewise recently released its list of the 14 Cheapest Places to Live in Canada in 2023, where the southern Alberta city was placed at number six.

The organization said Lethbridge is known for having many job opportunities, including career growth in education, hospitality, retail, healthcare, and agriculture.

According to Comparewise, Lethbridge is not only affordable, but it one of the cheapest communities in the country to migrate to.

“Without the rent in your expenses, you can live a comfortable life with just $1,300,” said Comparewise.

Comparewise continues, “The house pricing in Lethbridge is also very reasonable. Houses usually cost $357,000. Meanwhile, the renting properties can go as low as $865 monthly. Residents in this city usually have an average annual income totalling $75,000.”

The National Rent Report for March 2023 put average rental prices in Lethbridge between $1,210 and $1,377 per month, compared to the national average of $2,004.

Comparewise also gave credit to Lethbridge’s strong education system, abundant parks, and quick access to the Rocky Mountains.

Cities for Youth to Work – RBC Future Launch

Another survey, RBC Future Launch’s Best Cities in Canada for Youth to Work, viewed Lethbridge a little less favourably.

Analyzing 30 cities across the country, Lethbridge was ranked 27th.

Its strongest points were the low cost of living and high home ownership ratios for residents aged 25-34.

Despite receiving praise from Comparewise, RBC said Lethbridge could improve in the education and training category, “with the lowest enrollment in post secondary education at the largest institution.”

The financial institution ranked Lethbridge 12 for transportation, 19 for entrepreneurial spirit, 24 for health, 25 for city economy, and 27 for good youth jobs.
