Nathan Neudorf and Joseph Schow receive new provincial cabinet positions

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two local MLAs are set to take on new cabinet positions within the provincial government.

A swearing-in ceremony was held for the winners of the 2023 Alberta provincial election.

Premier Danielle Smith said her new cabinet will comprise of many familiar names but in different roles, as well as a few newcomers.

Lethbridge-East MLA Nathan Neudorf has been named the Minister of Affordability and Utilities, and will also serve as the Vice-chair of the Treasury Board.

Neudorf is entering his second term in office after first being elected in 2019. He has held a variety of positions within the government, most recently being the Minister of Infrastructure and one of two deputy premiers.

At the time that Neudorf became a government minister for the first time last fall, he said his appointment was a great opportunity to elevate Lethbridge and the city’s needs on the provincial level.

The race in Lethbridge-East was close as Neudorf edged-out the NDP’s Rob Miyashiro by 636 votes.

Cardston-Siksika MLA Joseph Schow also has a new portfolio, taking over the ministry of Tourism and Sport.

During his first term, Schow was the government house leader.

Schow won re-election in a landslide in the May 2023 vote.
