By-election date set to determine new mayor in Claresholm

CLARESHOLM, AB – A date has been set for a by-election in the Town of Claresholm.

The southern Alberta town is seeking a new mayor following the resignation of Chelsae Petrovic, who was elected MLA in the riding of Livingstone-Macleod in the 2023 provincial election.

At its Monday, June 12, 2023 meeting, Claresholm Town Council passed a motion to set Monday, September 18, 2023 as by-election day for the vacant position.

Voting on September 18 will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Claresholm Community Centre. An advance polling option will be available on Wednesday, September 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the town’s community centre.

Nominations are now being accepted at the town office until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21. Questions can be directed to Chief Returning Officer Karine Keys at info@claresholm.ca.
