LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s set to be another busy weekend full of events in Lethbridge.

Strange/Familiar at Didi’s Playhaus – June 16 & 17, 2023

After almost a decade of Theatre Outré performances at Didi’s Playhaus, the Lethbridge-based troupe will be moving on to a new performance venue, but not before one final show. The queer positive space has invited playwright Liam Monaghan to showcase his latest auto-fictional work, titled “Strange/Familiar”. The autofictional play includes elements from Monaghan’s own life, while fictionalizing a story around his experience. For more information and tickets to the show go to the Theatre Outré website.

Lethbridge Psychic & Crystal Fair – June 16 to 18

This weekend, the Lethbridge Psychic & Crystal Fair will take over the Sandman Hotel. From Friday to Sunday, people can browse over 25 vendors and meet some of Canada’s top psychics, mediums, astrologers, aura photographers, rune readers, healers, tea leaf and palm readers. Skinny Dyck // Ryan Boune & the Plant City Band at the Owl Acoustic Lounge – June 16

Friday night, the Owl Acoustic Lounge will host a special hometown show with Skinny Dyck, and special guest Ryan Boune for an album release part for Plant City. The show kicks off at 8:30 p.m., with suggested donations for entry priced at $20.

Nikka Yuko Food Truck Friday – Every Friday

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden hosts Food Truck Fridays every Friday until September 29, 2023. Several food truck vendors will be parked outside Nikka Yuko, including Santeria Taco Truck, Ma n Pa’s BBQ, That Hawaiian Burger Truck, Mama Lo’s, Vesano Pizza, Jerry’s Pop Shop, and much more. The trucks will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Old School Drag Racing at the Lethbridge Airport – June 17

The Le Barons Car Club will host its annual arm drop drag racing event at the Lethbridge Airport this weekend. On June 17, starting at 9:30 a.m., people are encouraged to check out classic wheels and fast rides. The club will also hold a Cash Days event, where the fastest cars will race for cold hard cash. Making It Big in Lethbridge – Exhibition Opening at Casa – June 17

On Saturday, a new exhibition will open at Casa and run until August 19. “Making It Big in Lethbridge” invited participation from artists who were interested in conversations around scale. A total of 50 regional artists took the challenge to create a work in any media. The opening reception for this new exhibition kicks off at 7:00 p.m., and a full list of artists can be found at the Casa website.

Pure Power Wrestling Danger Zone at the Fritz Sick Centre – June 17

Pure Power Wrestling (PPW) returns to Lethbridge this weekend for another wrestling event, “Danger Zone”. On Saturday, fans will be able to see stars like PPW Heavyweight Champion Kyle Sebastian and “Type Eh” Michael May compete in the squared circle at the Fritz Sick Centre. Advanced tickets for the event can be purchased at King of Trade, Round Table Board Gamerie, Meadow Lane, or at 6:30 p.m. at the door on the day of the event.

‘A Father’s Day Finale in the Key of F’ – June 17

The Lethbridge Community Band Society (LCBS) has announced that their final concert of the 2022-2023 season will take place on June 17, 2023. The show, titled “A Father’s Day Finale in the Key of F” will be held at the College Drive Community Church, located at 2710 College Drive South. The community reception starts at 5:30 p.m., and the musical program at 7:00 p.m., with tickets available for purchase online.

Lethbridge Battle of the Bands at the Southminster United Church – June 17

12B Session Street BAND will put on the first Lethbridge Battle of the Bands on Saturday, June 17. Starting at 5:00 p.m. at Southminster Hall, bands of all genres and ages can take part in a celebration that highlights culture, music and camaraderie. The first-place finish includes a $3,000 cash prize and a hotel stay, second place is a $1,500 prize and $800 for the band that finishes third. Lethbridge Farmers’ Market at Lethbridge & District Exhibition – Every Saturday

Head on over to Lethbridge & District Exhibition this weekend to check out the region’s best produce, baked goods, homemade crafts and more. The Lethbridge Farmers’ Market is free to attend and runs every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until October 14, 2023. Last year, it’s estimated that nearly 57,000 people attended the market on the exhibition grounds.

Trans March at Galt Gardens – June 18

Lethbridge Pride Fest is kicking off Pride Week with the Trans March on Sunday, June 18. Participants are encouraged to dress up in pride gear, meet in Galt Gardens prior to 12:00 p.m., and march to Lethbridge City Hall. Pride Fest encourages people to exercise responsible ally-ship and recognize that the voices of the trans community take precedence in the space.

Filipino Heritage Festival – June 18

The Filipino Canadian Association Lethbridge Alberta (FCALA ) is set to host the Filipino Heritage Festival from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at Henderson Park. The free event will feature specialty food, guest speakers, and live entertainment. More information can be found on the Filipino Heritage Festival Facebook page.
