Lethbridge and area schools win combined $150K

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A total of 15 local schools will be able to take on new projects after winning funding.

Kidoodle.TV has announced the winners of its Million Dollar School Giveaway competition.

It offers prizes of $10,000 to 100 public schools in Canada and the United States to support educational programs and resources. Each school had to submit a video showcasing what they would use the money for and why it is important for students.

Within the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division, nine schools will receive funding, including:

  • Children of St. Martha School (Lethbridge)
    • Plan and build an outdoor classroom
  • École St. Mary School (Lethbridge)
    • Renew online resources/subscriptions
    • Outdoor play space/classroom
    • Electronic devices such as iPads and Chromebooks
    • Field trips
    • Air conditioning
  • Father Leonard Van Tighem School (Lethbridge)
    • Classroom resources
    • Technology
    • Books
    • Outdoor classroom
    • Musical instruments
    • More educational guests
    • Gym equipment
  • Our Lady of the Assumption School (Lethbridge)
    • Technology such as Chromebooks and 3D printers
    • Books and supplies
    • Classroom furniture
  • St. Francis Junior High School (Lethbridge)
    • Outdoor basketball court featuring nets
    • New textbooks
    • Air conditioning
    • Gym equipment
    • Sports jerseys
    • New lights
    • Redo bathrooms
    • More field trips
    • More food choices
    • New desks
    • Water fountain
  • St. Teresa of Calcutta School (Lethbridge)
    • Technology such as iPads, digital drawing, ect.
    • Art supplies
    • Gym equipment
  • St. Joseph School (Coaldale)
    • Gym and sports equipment
    • Stage for the gym
    • New books
    • Security cameras
    • Field trips
    • Greenhouse
    • Outdoor play equipment

  • St. Mary’s School (Taber)

    • Facility repairs from hail damage, flood wear, ect.

As well, six schools that are part of the Lethbridge School Division received funding:

    • New xylophones
  • Coalbanks Elementary School
    • Enhance the school’s MakerSpace with new resources
  • Gilbert Paterson Middle School
    • Student resources
    • Grade 7 aquaponics equipment
  • G.S. Lakie Middle School
    • Audio equipment
  • Dr. Probe Elementary School
    • Development of an outdoor classroom
  • Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School
    • Additional content for the library
