Annual dragon boat festival a roaring success in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Thousands gathered at Henderson Lake Park over the weekend to watch the annual ATB Financial Lethbridge Rotary Dragon Boat Festival.

Marketing director Don Robb said he was very happy with the turnout. In addition to thousands of attendees, he said there were about 1,500 to 2,000 race participants, including boaters and coaches.

Robb stated, “We have an amazing team of people who put together a great race schedule, with something in the neighbourhood of 70 teams.”

He added, “The weather turned out so nicely for us.”

The event, which took place from June 23 to 25, 2023, also featured live performers, merchandise and food vendors, as well as activities for kids.

“The organizers just did a really amazing job of putting everything together and making it all run smoothly,” Robb remarked.

He added that planning for the 2024 event will start in the near future, as “it’s about a year-long process to make sure everything runs.”

This year marked the 21^st anniversary of the annual festival.
