LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said it has apprehended a suspected who was wanted in connection to an aggravated assault.

Police were called to the 400 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South at approximately 1:37 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, on a report of a physical altercation. A second caller told LPS shortly afterward that an injured man entered a nearby business seeking assistance.

Officers say they found a 38-year-old man with serious, non-life-threatening injuries from a stabbing. He was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital for treatment.

LPS said their investigation determined the victim was injured after he and an acquaintance got into an altercation with an unknown man.

A suspect was arrested on Saturday, June 24 without incident.

Anthony Davis Belanger, 34, of Lethbridge, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 5, 2023.
