TABER, AB – The Taber RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection to a sexual assault from many years ago.

In the summer of 1990, officers say a six-year-old girl was forcibly taken from their home just outside of Taber by a person who was known to her.

“She was taken to a vehicle that was driven by a male named Ian,” reads a media release by the Taber RCMP.

The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by the man, which, according to the RCMP, caused “life altering injuries.”

Police are attempting to identify the suspect.

The RCMP said, “It is believed that he was living in Taber at the time of the offence, but may have lived in Lethbridge, Alta., shorty before or after.”

The suspect is said to have driven a motorcycle and also had access to a light blue or grey 1980s “boxy” four-door sedan.

The man is described as being in his early 20’s at the time of the alleged offence, a smoker with very yellow and crooked teeth, brown or dirty blonde hair in a mullet, skinny build, and approximately 5’10”.

Anyone who has any information on this file is asked to phone Taber/Vauxhall RCMP at 403-223-4447. Tips can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at P3Tips.com, or by using the P3 Tips mobile app.
