Lethbridge College Kodiaks Hall of Fame seeking nominations for class of 2023

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Nominations are open for the Lethbridge College Kodiaks Hall of Fame.

Anyone can nominate past student-athletes, coaches, teams, and team-builders who have left their mark on Kodiaks Athletics over the last 60-plus years. The Hall of Fame was started in 2017, with the first class including four athletes, three coaches, and five teams.

The 2023 Hall of Fame class will be recognized on October 21, before the Kodiaks volleyball season home opener games. The Hall of Fame is supported by the Kodiaks Association, a group of boosters who help the program through fundraising and community-building initiatives.

Jean Schnarr, Kodiaks Athletic Association President said they are hoping to induct six nominees this year. Schnarr stated, “The Kodiaks have a long history of excellence, and we look forward to celebrating these inductees in October.”

Nominations are open until July 31 at the Kodiaks website.

Athletics and Recreation Services Director Todd Caughlin said, “The Kodiaks tradition of success both on the court and in the classroom is something that needs to be recognized and I am so thankful to the Kodiaks Association for supporting the Kodiaks Hall of Fame.”

“The pandemic delayed an inductee class, but we are excited to see the Class of 2023 go into the hall and look forward to seeing nominees from years past who have earned this honour,” Caughlin added.

Athletics started at Lethbridge College in 1957.

Since then, the Kodiaks have earned 112 Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC) championships and 22 national championships, while producing 85 Academic All-Canadians.
