LETHBRIDGE, AB – Summer is in full swing and there’s a ton of events taking place for the first week of July.

Free Public Roller/ Inline Skating – July 4, 2023

Roller Skate Lethbridge is holding a free skate in Festival Square from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. Groovy tunes are set to ring throughout downtown as people gather to roller skate around. Residents are encouraged to bring their own skates as loans and rentals will not be available. Public washrooms will be available in Galt Gardens and chairs will be provided.

Family Outdoor Play with Building Brains Canada – July 4 to August 9

In partnership with Building Brains Together, the Lethbridge Family Centre, Holy Spirit Catholic School Division, Lethbridge School Division and the Lethbridge Public Library will host several free outdoor family events will take place from now until August. All ages are welcome to take part if adults are present to supervise.

Pro-Amateur Comedy Night (Open Mic Comedy) at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – July 5

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club will host its Pro-Amateur Night on Wednesday, July 5. Professional comics will test out new material, and newer performers can try their hand at stand-up comedy. Those looking to sign up for a guest spot, or grab tickets to the show, can do so online at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club website.

Lethbridge Farmer’s Market at Festival Square – Every Wednesday

This Wednesday marks the first Farmers Market of the season in downtown Lethbridge. On July 5, the Lethbridge & District Exhibition and the Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) will present the annual farmers market in Festival Square. The downtown market runs every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. until September 6. Admission is free, but parking rates may apply.

Hootenanny: There’s A Turtle In My Tub! – July 5 – 29

New West Theatre is set to perform Hootenanny for a fourth summer. The original play, There’s a Turtle in My Tub! will run throughout July from Wednesday to Saturday until July 29. The outdoor performance in Galt Gardens is free for all ages and starts each morning at 10:30 a.m. The performance follows Kit, a curious and creative young person who finds a turtle named Seymore in his bathtub. The pair go on a wild adventure that encourages audience participation. More information on the show can be found on the New West Theatre website.

Yoga and Tai Chi at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

The Canadian Yoga Institute began its Tai Chi and Yoga classes at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden this month. Flow Yoga will take place every Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m., while Yoga for Wellness will start at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. every Saturday, people can take part in short-form Yang Style Tai Chi. Drop-in passes can be purchased on the day of the event, or you can register through the Canadian Yoga Institute. More information can be found online.

Centric MusicFest Pop-Up Concerts – July 5, 6, 7

In partnership with the City of Lethbridge, The Alberta Foundation of the Arts, Pita Pit, Tacos Made in Mexico and the Telegraph Taphouse, three bands will take the stage in Festival Square on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during lunch hour. Every day at noon, the artists will perform a free show for residents looking to get out and enjoy downtown for lunch. People can see Brett Hollet on Wednesday, Con Brio Trio on Thursday and on Friday, Wander West.

Upside Downtown Concerts + Art: Yarboro – July 6

On Thursday, Casa kicks off its weekly concert series set to run every Thursday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Rotary Square with a new artist each evening. On July 6, Yarboro, a Lethbridge-based band, will take the stage to perform a blend of heartfelt songwriting and raw energy. The show is free and will also feature a cash bar. Nikka Yuko Food Truck Friday – Every Friday

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden hosts Food Truck Fridays every Friday until September 29, 2023. Several food truck vendors will be parked outside of Nikka Yuko, including Santeria Taco Truck, Ma n Pa’s BBQ, That Hawaiian Burger Truck, Mama Lo’s, Vesano Pizza, Jerry’s Pop Shop, and much more. The trucks will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Your Body is Good Event in Festival Square – July 7

Kurvy Kourture will host an outdoor gathering on Friday to promote body inclusivity. The ‘Your Body is Good’ event is set to welcome individuals to shop local vendors, enjoy live music in Festival Square, and snack on tacos from Beau’s Birria & Taqueria. The event runs from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with free gift bags being handed out for the first 50 people there.

Steve Taddy at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – July 7 + 8

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club presents Steve Taddy on Friday and Saturday. The Calgary-based comedian has toured across Western Canada and was featured in Calgary’s inaugural Craft Island Comedy Festival. According to his bio, his jokes vary on topics from family life, animals and his deep disdain for pseudoscience. Tickets for his show are on sale now at the Good Time Comedy Club website.

Latin Fest at Multicultural Centre – July 8

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association (SAEA) will host Latin Fest on Saturday, July 8. From 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., residents can enjoy a day of special food, entertainment and children’s activities. The festival is free to attend and will welcome performers like Klave Band, Latin Rev, Dale Ketcheson, Zumba Lethbridge, DJ Omar, Latin Dance Lessons by Dayana, Espiritu Maya Pipil Dance Group, Rigoberto Alvarado, Corazon Salvadoreno, Mi Colombia Linda, Antonio Bobadilla Amaral, Sabor Argentina and DJ Ktracho.
