LETHBRIDGE, AB – The University of Lethbridge (U of L) is bringing curling back to its athletic program.

The university announced on July 4, 2023 that curling will be included as a competitive club at the U of L, participating in the U Sport Curling Championships.

The return of curling to the U of L also brings in a new coach for the club, and the school announced Casey Scheidegger as the head coach of the team. Scheidegger, a graduate of the U of L, has represented Alberta at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2018, 2019, and 2023. Her team also came out victorious in the 2017 Meridian Canadian Open in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Scheidegger said, “I am excited to take on the coaching role with the U of L Pronghorns Curling Program. This is a great opportunity to build up the curling community in Southern Alberta and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
