
Taber Police charge man in connection with alleged grocery store robbery
TABER, AB – The Taber Police Service has provided an update on an incident it said occurred on June 30, 2023.
Police stated that at approximately 5:30 p.m., a lone male wearing a mask entered a grocery store and picked up a single item before approaching the till and allegedly brandishing a knife. Officials reported that the suspect demanded money from the cashier, and subsequently fled the store and rode off on a bike.
After obtaining CCTV footage and witness testimony, police have charged 35-year-old Matthew Lee Unser, of Taber, with several offences.
Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Unser was remanded in custody and is set to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on July 6, 2023.
