LETHBRIDGE, AB – Four new drinking water stations have been added to city parks in Lethbridge.

The stations are part of a pilot project from the City Of Lethbridge, which contributed $15,000 from the Municipal Revenue Stabilization Reserve (MRSR) to install them.

The four fountains are connected to fire hydrants for 24-7 water access. They have been installed in Legacy Park, Galt Gardens, Henderson Lake Park, and Nicholas Sheran Park.

City Councillor Nick Paladino, who proposed the stations, said, “Access to drinking water is important to the general population but also, it’s perhaps most important to the vulnerable members of our community. I look forward [to seeing] how the pilot progresses through the summer and how the community uses them.”

The stations were designed and manufactured by staff at the City’s Water Treatment Plant. The pilot program will be reviewed at the end of the summer, and brought back before council with the information later in the year.

The Legacy Park and Nicholas Sheran stations are operational as of Friday, July 7, 2023, while the ones at Galt Gardens and Henderson Lake Park will be operational by the end of day on Monday, July 10.
