LETHBRIDGE, AB – With summer in full swing, there are a ton of events taking place over the weekend.

Centric MusicFest Pop-Up Concerts – July 7

In partnership with the City of Lethbridge, The Alberta Foundation of the Arts, Pita Pit, Tacos Made in Mexico and the Telegraph Taphouse, a band will take the stage in Festival Square during lunch hour. On Friday, July 7 at noon, Wander West will perform a free show for residents looking to get out and enjoy downtown in the afternoon.

Your Body is Good event in Festival Square – July 7

Kurvy Kourture will host an outdoor gathering on Friday to promote body inclusivity. The ‘Your Body is Good’ event is set to welcome individuals to shop local vendors, enjoy live music in Festival Square, and snack on tacos from Beau’s Birria & Taqueria. The event runs from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with free gift bags being handed out for the first 50 people there.

The Taming of The Shrew at Galt Gardens – July 7

The Lethbridge Shakespeare Performance Society will present The Taming of The Shrew in Galt Gardens on Friday. The intricate comedic Shakespearian tale is sure to bring a smile to audiences’ faces as it follows the story of a frantic competition between three ardent lovers. Multiple performances will take place throughout July and August, and more information can be found online.

Little Gem Winery grand opening – July 8

Little Gem Winery’s grand opening is set for July 8, and staff will welcome guests to visit the first-ever winery in southern Alberta. Guests will be treated to guided tours, information on the winemaking process, tasting experiences and kid-friendly activities like bouncy castles and wagon rides. Nikka Yuko Food Truck Friday – Every Friday

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden hosts Food Truck Fridays every Friday until September 29, 2023. Several food truck vendors will be parked outside of Nikka Yuko, including Santeria Taco Truck, Ma n Pa’s BBQ, That Hawaiian Burger Truck, Mama Lo’s, Vesano Pizza, Jerry’s Pop Shop, and much more. The trucks will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Steve Taddy at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – July 7 and 8

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club presents Steve Taddy on Friday and Saturday. The Calgary-based comedian has toured across western Canada and was featured in Calgary’s inaugural Craft Island Comedy Festival. Tickets for his show are on sale now at the Good Time Comedy Club website.

The Flying Legends of Victory Tour at the Lethbridge Airport – July 7 to 9

The Airbase Arizona Aircraft Museum has taken two of its most iconic World War Two planes on tour across North America this summer. It’s the first time that The Flying Legends of Victory Tour has been in Canada since 2019, and the volunteer troupe has made a pit stop right here in Southern Alberta. This year, the US-based museum has sent out the B-25 Mitchell ‘Maid in the Shade,’ and B-17 Flying Fortress ‘Sentimental Journey’. The collection of historical military bombers welcomes people to get an up-close and personal look at some of the warbirds through their ground tours or take a flight on one of the famous bombers. Latin Fest at Multicultural Centre – July 8

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association (SAEA) will host Latin Fest on Saturday, July 8. From 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., residents can enjoy a day of special food, entertainment and children’s activities. The festival is free to attend and will welcome performers like Klave Band, Latin Rev, Dale Ketcheson, Zumba Lethbridge, DJ Omar, Latin Dance Lessons by Dayana, Espiritu Maya Pipil Dance Group, Rigoberto Alvarado, Corazon Salvadoreno, Mi Colombia Linda, Antonio Bobadilla Amaral, Sabor Argentina and DJ Ktracho. Annual Open House with Blue Rein Ranch Counselling & Animal Assisted Therapy – July 8

The Blue Rein Ranch Counselling & Animal Assisted Therapy will host an Annual Open House event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets include animal demonstrations, pony rides, bouncy castles for kids and lunch. Admission can be purchased at the gate, more information can be found on the Blue Rein Ranch Counselling & Animal Assisted Therapy Facebook page.

Hootenanny: There’s A Turtle In My Tub! – July 7 to 29

New West Theatre is set to perform Hootenanny for a fourth summer. The original play, There’s a Turtle in My Tub! will run throughout July from Wednesday to Saturday until July 29. The outdoor performance in Galt Gardens is free for all ages and starts each morning at 10:30 a.m. The performance follows Kit, a curious and creative young person who finds a turtle named Seymore in his bathtub. The pair go on a wild adventure that encourages audience participation. More information on the show can be found on the New West Theatre website.
