Local athletes competing in North American Indigenous Games in Nova Scotia

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Local Indigenous athletes and coaches are participating in the 10th North American Indigenous Games.

The games will host competitions in 16 sports within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth, Millbrook First Nation and Sipekne’katik in Nova Scotia. The games are held every four years, hosting events for Indigenous youth aged 13-19.

In total, 50 athletes, six coaches and one manager from Lethbridge and the surrounding communities are in Nova Scotia for the games, including:

Susan Eymann, Lethbridge Sport Council executive director said, “We are very proud of our delegation of [50] athletes and [six] coaches representing our region at the North American Indigenous Games. It’s a testament to their dedication, talent, and cultural pride.”

The games will begin on Saturday, July 15 and run until Sunday, July 23, 2023.
