CLARESHOLM, AB – A member of town council in Claresholm wants to claim a higher seat in council chambers.

At the regular meeting on Monday, July 17, 2023, Brad Schlossberger announced his resignation from council, effective Tuesday, July 18.

He said he made the decision to do so in order to run for mayor of the community.

Former mayor Chelsae Petrovic stepped down earlier this year after running in the provincial election for the United Conservative Party. She won the election and has since been sworn in as the MLA for Livingstone-Macleod.

As a result, there will be two by-election races held simultaneously in Claresholm, one for mayor and one for councillor. Both will be held on September 18, 2023.

For more details on the by-elections, including how to register as a candidate, go to the Town of Claresholm’s website.
