The event featured appearances from dignitaries such as Alberta’s Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services Jason Nixon, Lethbridge-East MLA Nathan Neudorf, and Lethbridge mayor Blaine Hyggen.

Dawna Coslovi, CEO of Green Acres Foundation, who manages Blue Sky Lodge, said, “This is a really special thing because this is our oldest building in the whole foundation, built in 1973. We have really special residents that we have the honour of providing housing services to.”

After the opening remarks, a tree-planting was held on the grounds of the centre. That was followed up by a barbecue lunch with live music for the residents and attendees.

Green Acres Foundation is a non-profit housing management body established by the province, which has been providing affordable homes and care services for senior citizens in southern Alberta since 1960.
