Local athletes to compete at returning Alberta Summer Games
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The 2023 Alberta Summer Games are taking place this weekend.
The games are being held in Okotoks and Black Diamond, and the event is the first Alberta Summer Games since 2018 due to postponements from the pandemic.
The games are usually held every two years. Lethbridge was originally set to host the 2020 Alberta Summer Games. The event was postponed to 2021, and then cancelled due to pandemic restrictions.
The event hosts nearly 3,800 athletes aged 11-17, as well as coaches and managers from across the province, who compete in 14 different sports. There are over 100 athletes and coaches representing Zone 1 at the games that come from Lethbridge and the surrounding communities.
