LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Chinook Autism Society (CAS) held a walk at Henderson Lake Park on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

The CAS Superhero Autism Walk began at 2:00 p.m. at the park and saw kids, parents and organizers dress up with superhero memorabilia to walk around the park.

Following the loop, the walkers returned to the Horseshoe Club for a barbecue and snacks.

Brandon Rudics, President of the Chinook Autism Society said the event is about giving those with autism and their families a place they can be comfortable and have fun with other people.

Rudics added, “Its just [an opportunity] for our community to come together and be in solidarity, go for a walk around and have a barbecue. Today we just wanted to get the community together and show the autism community in Lethbridge that Chinook Autism is still here, we’re still around and we’re still here for you.”

The walk had not been held by CAS since 2018 due to the pandemic. Rudics said that planning for the 2024 Superhero Walk has already started.

CSA is aimed at raising awareness about Autism in the community, and provides support for low-income families that have kids with autism by helping access needed equipment.
