Blairmore man charged in connection with Lethbridge assault
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 33-year-old Blairmore man faces charges in connection with an incident in Lethbridge in early July.
The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said that on July 12, at around 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a report that three people were assaulting a man at the intersection of 13 Street North and 3 Avenue North. When police arrived on scene, the LPS said they found a 47-year-old man “who had been repeatedly punched and kicked in the head.”
According to the LPS, the victim declined to be taken to hospital by attending EMS crews. Police searched the area but were unable to find anyone who matched the descriptions of the suspects.
On July 13, at approximately 7:20 a.m., both police and EMS responded to the victim’s home in north Lethbridge, where the LPS said he was found to be in medical distress. The man was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital and was later transferred to Calgary for treatment of a significant head injury. Police said the man remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.
