Pincher Creek Emergency Department set to temporarily close

UPDATE – JULY 31, 2023

PINCHER CREEK, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) confirmed Monday evening, July 31, 2023, that the emergency department at the Pincher Creek Health Centre has reopened for 24/7 coverage.

Overnight closures of the department previously announced for July 31 and August 2, 2023 have been avoided.

PINCHER CREEK, AB – Due to a lack of physician coverage, the Pincher Creek Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) will be temporarily closed multiple times over the coming days.

Alberta Health Services announced the following time for the closures:

  • Closed at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26 and reopening at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 27
  • Closed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28 and reopening at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 30
  • Closed overnight from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on July 31
  • Closed overnight from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on August 2

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. Patients seeking care can access emergency medical services at the Cardston Health Centre, Crowsnest Pass Health Centre, Fort Macleod Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Residents can also call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
