City of Lethbridge issues safety reminders ahead of airshow

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge International Airshow is this weekend, and officials with the City of Lethbridge have issued some reminders for citizens.
The event is Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Lethbridge Airport.
Some notes people should keep in mind include:
- Residents can anticipate seeing aerial vehicles and hearing loud noises overhead for the duration of the weekend throughout the city, and not just at the Lethbridge Airport.
- Expect traffic to increase leading up to and during the weekend, all around Lethbridge but specifically in the area of the airport.
- Motorists are asked to drive carefully and be patient.
- The airshow begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
- The Lethbridge International Airshow Association has coordinated a free parking and shuttle service at Lethbridge College. The service will be available at the east end of Lot E on 30 Street South and will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days of the event.
- General parking at the airport will start at 8 a.m., with gates opening at 9 a.m.
- Guests are asked to ensure all food items are disposed of in an appropriate manner to avoid attracting wildlife to the airport.
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the airfield.
- Pets are not permitted anywhere on the airfield, with the exception of service animals.
- Guests are asked to remain within designated areas at all times and follow staff instructions.
- Guests are asked to be respectful of static displays around the area.
- Regular scheduled flights will not be affected by the airshow. However, travelers may want to allow extra time to arrive and prepare for departing flights.
