COALDALE, AB – Coaldale is getting set to host its summer festival in August.

Coaldale Summer Fest is set for Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12, 2023. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Salute to Agriculture’. The festival is a way to celebrate the entire community and the 2023 event is dedicated to recognizing Coaldale’s agricultural roots and heritage.

“So much of our town’s history is rooted in agriculture and to this day, much of our economy hinges on the continued expansion and success of the agricultural and agri-food processing industries,” stated Coaldale mayor Jack Van Rijn.

He added, “We’re proud of this history, and proud of our Town for continuing to embrace agriculture as part of its identity, which is ultimately why we decided to give Summer Fest 2023 the theme we did.”

Summer Fest will start with a movie in Millenium Park on August 11, behind the Coaldale Sportsplex. Members of Coaldale Town Council will serve free pizza and Deez Eats food cart will be on site at around 7 p.m. to serve up popcorn, hot dogs and pop during the movie. Citizens have the chance to cast their vote for which movie will play and can do so at the Summer Fest website.

SATURDAY FUN

The festivities will continue on August 12, starting with the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast fundraiser, followed by Coaldale’s Candy Parade. Attendees will be able to enjoy live music and a battle of the bands and a variety of other live performances, walk through the Coaldale Custom Cruisers Show & Shine, visited the Domesticated Divas Open Air Market, along with other family-friendly activities.

The day will wrap up with a fireworks display with choreographed music.
