Lethbridge man charged following high-risk incident

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have charged a man following what was described as a high-risk incident this week.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) responded to a residence on the 1200 block of 31 A Street South.

Police noted that the man had been evicted from his home. Officials said the man reportedly told his landlord that he was in possession of a firearm. The LPS was called to the scene and evacuated one of the other suites inside the property as a precautionary measure.

Police allege that the man had previously threatened to shoot two other tenants.

Members of the Tactical Team were deployed, and the man was taken into custody without incident. The LPS said officers recovered a BB gun from the home.

Douglas Dwaine Courtoreille, 70, of Lethbridge, faces one count of uttering threats. He weas released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 14, 2023.
