UPDATE: Police identify and charge man in connection to alleged assault outside City Hall

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have identified and charged a man in connection with an alleged assault outside of City Hall.

After a news release was issued earlier on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said it received numerous tips from the public identifying the man involved in the reported incident. The suspect was arrested without incident.

Samuel Nicholas Paskuski, 25, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault and mischief to property. He was released from custody and is set to appear in court on November 1, 2023.

ORIGINAL STORY: Wednesday, August 2, 2023 – 2:01 p.m.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking for help to find a suspect in connection with an assault investigation.

On July 25, 2023, officers responded to a report of an assault at Lethbridge City Hall along the 900 block of 4 Avenue South. Police said the alleged incident occurred during a gathering held in opposition of a proposal to put a fence around Galt Gardens.

The LPS noted that a 17-year-old male reported that he attended the event and when he voiced a counter opinion, an unknown male allegedly grabbed and shoved him. Police add that during the reported altercation, the suspect damaged a flag that the victim was holding.

The LPS said the victim was not injured, and the suspect left the area.

The incident was recorded on CCTV and a photo of the suspect was posted online.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, about 25-years-old, with messy blonde/brown hair, a beard and was seen wearing black pants, a tan t-shirt with black stripes, and a tan Tilly-style hat.
