Lethbridge Police charge three for impaired driving, issue 40 tickets over long weekend
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) charged three impaired drivers over the August long weekend, and issued 40 tickets.
The charges and tickets came as part of a weekend traffic enforcement project by LPS to address issues on the road including speeding, racing and excessive vehicle noise, among other issues.
In addition to charging three impaired drivers, police also apprehended four drivers going more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The drivers will have a mandatory court appearance, and a fine determined by court.
LPS ran a similar initiative in summer of 2022, and reported successful results. Members of the Traffic Response Unit will remain on the roads to deter and enforce driving violations.
