LETHBRIDGE, AB – Youth One has expanded in Lethbridge.

The youth and family centre provides after school programs and support services in the community. On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Youth One announced a new after-school sports program aimed at providing a dynamic and inclusive environment for local youth.

The program will begin with a focus on futsal and basketball, catering to people aged 11 to 18. The program will be available Mondays to Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., giving participants the chance to build relationships with others.

Spokesperson Jared Friesen said, “Youth One has always been committed to nurturing the potential of our youth and providing avenues for positive growth.”

“Organized sports are a significant need in our community, particularly during after-school hours. We recognize that not all families have access to affordable sports opportunities, and with this new program, we aim to bridge that gap and offer an essential outlet for physical activity, teamwork, and fun.”

Youth One is anticipated to serve over 650 registered students throughout the school year, with an estimated weekly attendance of up to 430 youths across all of its available programs.

The new sports-based program will be hosted at the Park Meadows Church Community Gym Space, and will launch on September 11, 2023.

More information about the program is available at the Youth One website.
