Reuse Rendezvous returning to Lethbridge

Sep 6, 2023 | 4:10 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Environment Lethbridge is bringing back one of its initiatives to the city.

Reuse Rendezvous gives residents of Lethbridge the opportunity to give away unwanted gently used items, and divert thousands of materials from the landfill.

The event is held twice a year, once in May and again in September. The fall drive is happening on September 9 and 10, 2023.

During the event in May 2023, residents diverted an estimated 1,800 boxes of smaller items and nearly 2,000 mid-large sized items such as electronics and furniture.

Those participating can place items marked “Free” in front of their homes on the morning of September 9.

Executive Director with Environment Lethbridge Kathleen Sheppard said, “Freecycling these items not only benefits homeowners, it’s good for the environment. People give away everything from furniture to secondhand books. It’s an easy way to pass things along to someone who wants them.”

Residents are reminded to only take items that are marked as “Free”, and to ensure items that are not part of the event are secured in order to prevent mix-ups.

Anyone wishing to participate in Reuse Rendezvous is also encouraged to register their location on an online map hosted by Environment Lethbridge.
