Hurricanes sign defenseman Grady Pichette to WHL contract

The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced on Thursday, September 7, 2023, that they have signed 2008-born defenceman Grady Pichette to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development contract.

Pichette, a native of Okotoks, was selected by the Hurricanes in the fourth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, 88th overall. He spent the 2022-2023 season with the Okotoks Oilers U15 AAA team, collecting eight assists in 33 regular season games.

The 6’1 defenceman also played two games for the Oilers U17 squad, where he had one assist and two penalty minutes. The Hurricanes added Pichette to their pre-season roster.

The Hurricanes continue their pre-season slate when they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday, September 9. They will close out their pre-season on Saturday, September 16th at 6:00 p.m. when they welcome the Red Deer Rebels to the ENMAX Centre.

The Canes’ first regular season game is on Friday, September 22 when they host the Swift Current Broncos.
