LETHBRIDGE, AB – Corteva Agriscience has completed a four-year, $50 million upgrade at its facility in Lethbridge.

The location is the company’s primary canola seed production and distribution site in North America.

The facility employs more than 100 staff from Lethbridge and surrounding areas. Corteva also partners with a number of Lethbridge farmers, who grow crops for the company’s seed production program.

North America Seed Production and Supply Chain Director Matt Kurtz said “The facility has been a pillar of our operations in North America for the past 15 years, and this investment will help ensure that it will continue to contribute to the Lethbridge community and to Corteva’s growth moving forward.”

Some of Corteva’s newest seeds are produced at the Lethbridge operation , including Optimum GLY canola, an advanced herbicide-tolerant trait technology for farmers.

Production location manager, Rick Bannerman said, “It’s been very encouraging to see the growth and expansion of the Lethbridge facility, which is now more than quadruple the size it was 10 years ago.”

Bannerman added, “As canola growers in Western Canada strive to increase productivity, our expanded warehouse capacity and other facility improvements will help us provide growers with seed and trait technologies to help them meet global demand for food and energy.”

This year marks the 15th anniversary of operation in Lethbridge.
