Pincher Creek unable to pump water from the Oldman reservoir

PINCHER CREEK, AB – The Municipal District of Pincher Creek is unable to pump water from the Oldman reservoir due to drought conditions.

The Town of Pincher Creek has been at stage 2 of its water restrictions since July 26, 2023. The MD and Village of Cowley moved to stage 3 of the water shortage response plan as of August 16.

The MD of Pincher Creek, Town of Pincher Creek and Village of Cowley have enacted their joint regional emergency management agency to coordinate and plan for the shortage. Measures were taken immediately to increase the supply of raw water.

The areas have been able to maintain the quality and quantity of their water this summer thanks to hauling trucks. Additionally, the MD of Pincher Creek is purchasing drinking water from the Town of Pincher Creek.
