Katherine Emberly begins new role as President and CEO of STARS

CALGARY, AB – The new President and CEO of STARS has commenced in her new role.

Katherine Emberly was appointed to the position in the spring of 2023 by the board of directors. Emberly takes over the role for Andrea Robertson, who announced her retirement in the fall of 2022, after serving with STARS for 12 years. STARS’ only other CEO was co-founder, Dr. Greg Powell.

Emberly stated, “I’m very excited and humbled to have a role at an organization where the work really matters and the stakes are extremely high.”

She continued, “I am only the third CEO in the history of STARS after two very long tenured CEOs, so it’s a big change for the organization.”

Emberly spent the past 20 years with Shaw Communications, serving the past three as President of Business. Previously, she has been involved in the community, sitting on the board for Alberta Blue Cross, Calgary Economic Development, Viamo, Axis Connects and Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.
