Hurricanes acquire forward Carter Dereniwsky from Royals

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have bolstered their forward core in a trade with the Victoria Royals.

The Hurricanes announced on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 that they acquired 2004-born forward Carter Dereniwsky from the Victoria Royals.

In exchange, the Hurricanes sent the Royals an eighth-round draft pick in 2025.

Dereniwsky was drafted by the Royals in the second round of the 2019 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft, 39th overall.

The 5’10, 170-pound forward has played 76 regular season games across three seasons with Victoria, putting up 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points. 18 of those points came in 51 games last season.

Dereniwsky will join the Hurricanes ahead of the team’s 2023-24 home opener on Friday, September 22.
