Milk River Health Centre’s emergency department temporarily closed Friday

MILK RIVER, AB – Residents of Milk River are being advised of a temporary closure at the community’s emergency department.

Alberta Health Services said the closure took effect Friday morning, September 22, 2023, and the hospital is set to re-open at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.

The closure is due to a lack of physician coverage.

During the closure period, patients who require emergency care are asked to phone 911. EMS calls will be re-routed to the Raymond Health Centre (60 kilometres away) or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (87 km away).

Nursing staff will remain on-site at the Milk River Health Centre to look after long-term care residents.
