Vancouver Canucks sign Coaldale-born goaltender Ty Young

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – A Coaldale-born goaltender has signed an National Hockey League (NHL) entry-level contract.

On September 25, 2023, Prince George Cougars goaltender Ty Young signed a three-year entry level deal with the Vancouver Canucks.

The 19-year-old netminder was drafted by the Canucks with the 144th pick in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Young played in 34 games for the Cougars last season, putting up a 15-13-13 record with a 3.89 goals-against average (GAA) and .889 save percentage.

In the playoffs, he had a 4.49 GAA and a .873 save percentage in eight playoff games.

Prior to joining the Cougars, Young spent the 2018-19 season with the Lethbridge Golden Hawks U15 AAA team, and the following season with the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA team.
