City issues reminder on properly disposing propane tanks

Sep 27, 2023 | 2:55 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is asking residents to keep old propane tanks out of their curbside collection carts.

Officials noted that hazardous materials like propane tanks can pose a serious risk to staff when disposed of incorrectly. Hazardous household waste must be disposed of properly at the Waste and Recycling Centre, in the designated area.

As an alternative measure, officials said many propane tanks are refillable and can be returned to participating retailers.

Individuals unsure of what to do with their tanks can contact Lethbridge 311 or use the online waste wizard tool.
