Sep 28, 2023 | 2:43 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Albertans will soon be able to start booking their annual immunizations against fall respiratory viruses.

Eligible residents can start booking appointments to get their influenza or COVID-19 vaccines on October 10, 2023. Appointments can be made through the online Alberta Vaccine Booking System, by directly contacting community health clinics, or by calling 811.

Health Minister Adriana LaGrange said, “Keeping up to date on your immunizations is an excellent way to protect yourself against the coming respiratory illness season.”

She added, “Doing what you can to prevent severe illness will also help secure our health care system for those who need it most.”

Beginning the week of October 2, Albertans living in congregate care will have access to respiratory virus vaccinations through their facilities.

Chief medical officer of health, Dr. Mark Joffe said, “Being immunized for influenza and COVID-19 can help protect you and your loved ones, particularly those most at risk for severe disease.”

He continued, “Taking steps to prevent viral infections will also improve an individual’s overall health.”

The province noted that appointments will start on October 16.
