LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Chief Mountain border crossing is closing.

The port of entry at Waterton Lakes National Park will close on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 6:00 p.m for the season.

Due to harsh winter conditions and its high elevation, Chief Mountain only operates from May to September. The Carway and Coutts border crossings remain open year-round.

This was the first season Chief Mountain was open since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The 2023 season saw 55,509 travellers cross into Canada through Chief Mountain.
