LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is advising residents of upcoming and continuing road work.

The intersection of Jerry Potts Boulevard and Algonquin Road West will be closed on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for improvement work.

The City of Lethbridge provided the following notes to citizens.

FOR MOTORISTS:

  • Jerry Potts Boulevard will be closed north of the intersection
  • Local traffic will be permitted between the closure and Red Crow Boulevard
  • No access will be permitted onto Jerry Potts Boulevard from Algonquin Road during this time
  • Northbound traffic on Jerry Potts Boulevard will be detoured to Algonquin Road for the duration of the closure
  • Follow posted detours

FOR PEDESTRIANS:

  • Sidewalks will remain open to the public and businesses will be accessible
  • Follow posted detours to navigate around the construction

GENERAL SAFETY REMINDERS:

  • Drive with extra caution near the construction area and obey the posted speed limits
  • Watch for construction signs and be mindful of workers and equipment in the vicinity
  • There is a playground zone in effect on Algonquin Road. Please be mindful and follow posted speed limits

The 600 block of 4 Avenue will also be temporarily closed for renovations from October 2 to 4. The closure is happening in order to remove the last remaining brick crosswalk at the intersection of 4 Avenue and 6 Street.

Businesses in the area can still be accessed through the laneway, and street parking will be available. The City will have signage posted at the intersection to help customers navigate.

Upon completion of work in each area, traffic detours and barricades will be removed and traffic flow will return to normal.

REMINDER

The intersection at 4 Avenue and 7 Street remains closed for ongoing work.

7 Street South between 5 Avenue and 6 Avenue is closed for watermain renewal work, followed by surface improvements. The closure is expected to last until October 31, depending on the weather. Traffic flow should remain uninterrupted on 5 Avenue and 6 Avenue during the course of the project.
