RCMP working to address public safety in Richmound with temporary detachment

Oct 7, 2023 | 9:17 AM

Medicine Hat, AB–Saskatchewan RCMP are bringing a temporary mobile detachment to Richmound. The detachment will be staffed 24/7 and will allow officers to quickly respond to any potential calls for service in the area. Officers will also be conducting regular patrols in the community.

Earlier this week, the Mayor of the Saskatchewan Village reached out to RCMP and the Province for help because residents are feeling threated by the self-proclaimed “Queen of Canada” Romana Didulo and her followers.

The Canadian Q-Anon figure has set up camp at an old school in Richmound, near the Alberta boundary.

Brad Miller says phony cease-and-desist letters were sent to village officials warning about trials for “crimes against humanity” and containing threats of public executions.

Miller says the village is practically on lockdown, with some residents scared to go outside and some kids staying home from school.

RCMP say they have received a number of calls for service related to this group’s presence over the past two weeks.
The calls for service include the report of an assault, threats, and of suspicious persons. RCMP says the complaints are under active investigation and are unable to provide additional details at this time.

“The safety and security of the communities we police is our top priority,” said C/Supt. Tyler Bates, commander of Saskatchewan RCMP’s South District.

Further updates will be provided if and when necessary. As always, Saskatchewan RCMP will advise residents if there is an imminent risk to public safety.

Saskatchewan RCMP encourages everyone in the Richmound area to report any suspicious activity to police. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
