FRANK, AB – The RCMP said it caught a motorist travelling at nearly twice the posted speed limit in the Crowsnest Pass.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, officers say two motorcyclists were observed travelling westbound on Highway 3 through the Frank Slide rocks and noted that both were allegedly speeding.

According to the Crowsnest Pass RCMP, the first bike rider was travelling at a speed of 101 kilometres an hour in the 80 km/hr speed zone. The second biker, who was reportedly trying to catch up to the first, was clocked in at a speed of 153 km/hr.

A peace officer conducted a traffic stop on the second motorcyclist and learned that they allegedly had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was issued two mandatory court appearances and the vehicle was seized for a period of 30 days.
