LETHBRIDGE, AB– On October 16, 2023, Lillie Quinn celebrated her 100th birthday at the Garden View Lodge.

She was joined by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with the residents of the Garden View Lodge, and Mayor Blaine Hyggen.

Quinn said she attributes her long life to never trying smoking. Her daughter Colleen Leiser, however, thinks otherwise, “My mom’s always had a great sense of humour so I think that’s what keeps her going. She always sees the light side of things and she’s a positive person.”

Leiser continued, “She has always been very active, she still knits and does her crosswords.”

She also added that her mother does not take any medication.

Adrian Boe, Manager of the Garden View Lodge, said, “In my 10 years here, I think this is the third centenarian we’ve had, so it is a very rare occasion, and it is very special.”

According to the 2021 federal census, there were 35 people in Lethbridge aged 100 years or older.
