LETHBRIDGE, AB – A functional planning study is in the works to address transportation around Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Officials note that transportation pressures have been reported around the hospital in Lethbridge, due to community growth, hospital demands and general traffic patterns.

The functional planning study will allow for planning for all modes of travel for people of all ages and abilities, while addressing local parking and road safety concerns.

The area that the City of Lethbridge Transportation team will focus on includes:

  • 9 Avenue South from 4 Street South to Mayor Magrath Drive South
  • 10 Avenue South/South Parkside Drive South from Scenic Drive South to 43 Street South
  • 17 Street South and 19 Street South between 9 Avenue South and 10 Avenue South

The City of Lethbridge is asking for feedback from the public on the project, to help identify issues and opportunities in the area. Residents can provide their feedback in multiple ways:

  • By completing the issues and opportunity survey online
  • Attending one of four community tours of the area, scheduled on November 1 and 2, 2023
  • Speaking with officials at the Community Conversation on October 23, 2023 from 3 to 7 p.m.
