Montanna Rousselle, Declan Peterson named Kodiaks athletes of the week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Montanna Rousselle and Declan Peterson have been named the Lethbridge College Kodiaks athletes of the week for October 17 to 23, 2023.

Rousselle and Peterson had strong weeks, propelling each of their teams to two victories on the weekend.

Rousselle, a forward on the Kodiaks’ women’s soccer team, had three assists in the Kodiaks’ 8-0 victory in Camrose against University of Alberta – Augustana on Friday, October 20. She was named the ACAC Player of the Game for her performance.

She then followed that up with a goal and an assist against Medicine Hat College on Sunday, October 22, to lead her team to a 2-1 victory. The two wins brought the Kodiaks to an 11-1 record on the season, a new team record.

On the men’s side, Peterson also led the Kodiaks’ men’s basketball team to two convincing victories on the weekend. On Friday at Lethbridge College, Peterson had 16 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in the Kodiaks’ 99-62 win over the Ambrose University Lions.

The team then traveled up to Calgary on Saturday to face the Lions again on their home court, but once again came out with a dominant win, with a final score of 90-43. Peterson once again shined, putting up 10 points, nine rebounds, blocking four shots, assisting with two plays, and making two steals.

The women’s soccer team travels up to Edmonton this weekend for the provincial championships, where they will hae a first round bye. The men’s basketball team will play a two-game set against the St. Mary’s University Lightning on October 27 and 28.
