Katrina Michel and Owen Stewart named Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Week
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The latest Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Week have been named.
Katrina Michel is a first-year student in the Practical Nurse program. Michel stars for the Lethbridge College cross-country team. The Kodiaks note she helped lead her team to a fifth-place finish at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) cross-country championships. The event was held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 and hosted by Lethbridge College at Nicholas Sheran Park. At the competition, Michel finished eighth overall.
Her performance earned her a spot at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Nationals in Truro, Nova Scotia. Michel was recently honoured as a Grand Prix award winner for her results during the regular season races.
Meanwhile, second-year General Studies student Owen Stewart was named the male Student-Athlete of the Week. He helped the Kodiaks earn a bronze medal at the ACAC cross-country championships on October 28. His individual performance secured him a seventh-place finish among all runners. The men’s team finish earned them a spot at the CCAA Nationals in Truro, Nova Scotia.
