Brooks man facing 22 charges, including kidnapping

BROOKS, AB – A 37-year old man from Brooks is facing a number of charges, including kidnapping, following an incident that was reported last month.

The RCMP says on October 24, 2023, witnesses reported a red Cadillac Escalade speeding through a construction zone at around 7 p.m. on Silver Sage Road. A woman fell out of the passenger side door and suffered critical injuries. Police said she is out of the hospital and is working on her recovery.

Officers located the vehicle and executed a search warrant. A suspect was identified and it was determined that he and the victim were known to each other.

On November 7, Brooks RCMP coordinated a joint effort with the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section, to execute a search warrant on a residence in Brooks.

A 37-year old man was arrested and charged with 22 criminal code offenses including:

  • Kidnapping
  • Three counts of assault with a weapon
  • 12 firearms-related charges
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Numerous fail to comply with conditions charges

He was remanded into custody with a future court date of November 15 in Medicine Hat.
