Hurricanes drop fourth straight home game Wednesday night

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes were bested 4-2 by the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

The Raiders outshot the Hurricanes seven to eight in the first frame, despite Lethbridge having two power plays in the period. After 20 minutes, the game remained tied at zero.

The Hurricanes scored in the first minute of the second period. Leo Braillard buried his fourth goal of the season to give the Canes a 1-0 lead. Later in the frame, the Raiders tied the game with a power play goal from Brayden Dube. The Raiders took the lead in the final minute of the second period with a goal from Ryder Ritchie, his team-leading 11th of the year. The Hurricanes were outshot 14-11.

In the opening minute of the third period, Harrison Meneghin stopped Ritchie on a penalty shot to keep the Hurricanes within one. Ten minutes later, the Hurricanes were awarded a penalty shot but Miguel Marques’ attempt missed the net. Justin Christensen extended the Raiders’ lead to 3-1 with a power play goal at 11:50 in the third. Two minutes later, Kooper Gizowski scored to cut the lead back to one. This was Gizowski’s fifth goal in six games, he has six goals this season.

Prince Albert tacked on an empty-net goal to finish the game with a 4-2 win.

The Hurricanes have lost four straight home games. They play again Friday, November 10 at the ENMAX Centre against the Wenatchee Wild.

The team has also announced that 2007-born forward Kash Andresen has been added to the team’s main roster for the remainder of the season.

Andresen joins defenceman Will Sharpe as the only two 16-year-old players on the Hurricanes roster.
