Applications open for 2024 Rotary Club of Lethbridge East agricultural scholarship

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Applications are open for the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East’s annual Agricultural Scholarship. The program is celebrating its sixth year.

Organizers said in 2024, they hope to award three $10,000 scholarships to post-secondary undergraduate agriculture students from southern Alberta.

In the past five years, 11 scholars have been named recipients of the award.

Applicants must have successfully completed at least the equivalent of two full years (60 credit hours) of training at a recognized post-secondary institution in agriculture or in a related field with substantive and documented agricultural content.

Applicants must either be a legal resident of southern Alberta or have lived in the region for seven of the past 10 years. Southern Alberta includes the counties of Lethbridge, Taber, Warner, Forty Mile, Cardston, Pincher Creek, Ranchlands, Willow Creek, Cypress, Newell, Vulcan and all municipalities within these counties (Lethbridge, Brooks, Medicine Hat), as well as the municipality of Crowsnest Pass, and the Kainai and Piikani First Nations.

Applications must be submitted by January 31, 2024.

AWARDS DINNER

The scholarship recipients will be celebrated at an awards dinner on March 7 at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Rotary Club said Dr. Caroline Brookfield will be the event’s keynote speaker. Brookfield is a veterinarian, author, speaker, and stand-up comic.
