Taber man charged following reported break-in to local business

TABER, AB – A Taber man has been charged by police following an alleged break-in at a business.

At around 5:30 a.m. on November 15, 2023, the Taber Police Service (TPS) responded to a burglary alarm at a business in the 6000 block of 60 Avenue.

While investigating, police said they found a man still within the compound of the business. The man was arrested and police said they discovered stolen property and fentanyl.

According to the TPS, the suspect had caused damage within the building. In an adjacent business compound, police said the man had stolen clothing from a vehicle. The man reportedly entered other compounds, causing damage to a piece of equipment in one of the compounds.

Mason Doyle Cranston, 41, is charged with break, enter and theft, two counts of break, enter and mischief, theft under $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000, two counts of breach of a release order, and possession of fentanyl.

Cranston was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge court on November 22, 2023.
