Economic Development Lethbridge hosts pitch competition for new website

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) hosted a pitch competition this week to design their new website.

The meeting was held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Tecconnect, with four competitors from across the province pitching their designs for the website. Two of the pitchers were at the event in person, while the other two joined the event via Zoom.

EDL awarded the best pitch with a $2500 prize, followed by $1000 for 2nd place and $500 for 3rd.

The competitors and their companies were:

• Eldhose K Shibu, Brewing Code (Freelancer) Edmonton, AB
• Makayla Gross, Westward Solutions & Jessie Stilson, SouthGrow
• Ryan Wiebe, Launch Interactive, Okotoks, AB
• Tobin Pearson, Freelancer

Renae Barlow, Vice President of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Economic Development Lethbridge said, “Part of EDL is supporting innovation and entrepreneurship and we kow there is great ideas out there and a lot of interest. “

She added, “We really wanted to find some innovators who are ahead of the game, ahead of the curve on finding some of that information and letting us know how we might adapt our website.”

Gross and Stilson came away with the top prize in the competition, with Shibu claiming second place and Wiebe getting third.

Ideas gathered from the competition will be incorporated into an RFP which will be made public later this month.

Economic Development Lethbridge is aiming to unveil a new choose Lethbridge website in the spring of 2024.
